Your guide to explore Mérida’s Calle 60 Culinary Corridor
Mérida’s Culinary Corridor: Calle 60
Of Mérida’s many numbered streets, few are as instantly recognizable as Calle 60. What can you find on a northbound street that effectively cuts through the city, from the airport to, basically, the port of Progreso? Anything you can imagine: from the 16th-century cathedral to Costco, from the American Consulate to the Grand Museum of the Maya World. On the portion that goes from Mérida’s main square (on Calle 61) to SoHo Galleries (on Calle 43), just under a mile long, you’ll find Mérida’s newest culinary corridor.
With approximately 40 food and dining establishments along nine city blocks, the Calle 60 Culinary Corridor (which is, of course, connected to the Calle 47 Culinary Corridor) is a smorgasbord of flavors and aromas for every occasion, taste, and budget. Here’s a quick look at what you’ll find on it.

1. Las Rellenas de la 60
For much of the year, Mérida is quite hot. That’s why, for locals and visitors, finding places to cool down and enjoy refreshing treats like ice cream or popsicles is not unusual. If popsicles are your favorite, then you should visit Las Rellenas de la 60, a popsicle shop located just a few feet from Santa Ana Park, offering an impressive variety of popsicles, made with either water or milk, as well as stuffed or classic versions.
They feature eclectic flavors that blend Mexican influences with modern twists. Some examples include pitahaya with chamoy, passion fruit with sweetened condensed milk, black sapote, lime with habanero, rice pudding, and my favorite, Mexican chocolate. They also have seasonal flavors and popsicles with mezcal.
The prices are quite affordable, ranging from $40 to $50 pesos, making them very accessible, especially if you’re with family or a group of friends.

2. La 60 Café Atelier
La 60 Café Atelier is a charming place to take a pause and unlock your creativity whilst sipping on a delicious cold brew or refreshing smoothie. This colourful cafe is located one block away from the Santa Ana market and describes itself as a place of ‘color, collage and coffee.’ Passing the quirky pastel facade, the interior is bright and airy, and the tables are laid out with all the necessary tools for you to create your own personalized collage, including magazines, decorative paper, stickers, and other materials. Outdoor seating is available in a shaded patio area at the back.
The savoury menu includes healthy toasts and sandwich options, or if you’re looking for something sweet, try a cookie or pastry. To drink, a good choice to try is the speciality energizing ‘Collage’ smoothie; for something lighter there is a wide selection of teas or barista coffees. —K.B.

It may not be a coincidence that right where the culinary corridors of Calle 60 and Calle 47 intersect, you'll find the restaurant Huniik. This restaurant combines the culinary traditions of the region with a contemporary vision, offering diners an unforgettable experience. Its carefully crafted tasting menu honors local ingredients and traditional techniques while incorporating a touch of innovation that sets it apart in the culinary scene.
Recently recognized as No. 36 on Latin América's 50 Best Restaurants, Huniik is led by Chef Roberto Solís Azarcoya, who was also awarded two knives at The Best Chef Awards 2024. 5. Mercado de Santa Ana
The Santa Ana Marqket is widely known by Mérida residents for its delicious traditional food options. Panuchos, salbutes, and tortas (sandwiches) are only the beginning of the long list of offerings available, with fillings as traditional as chicken or turkey or the more elaborate poc chuc, cochinita pibil, or relleno negro. You’ll also see stands offering juice, aguas frescas, and other natural beverages, in case you want to pair your meal with something other than soda.
As soon as you approach the seating area, waiters from different stands will do everything in their power to get you to try their own menus; don’t let them intimidate you. Thank them and politely keep going over to the stands to see what each offers, compare options, and choose for yourself. —A.N.

6. Pizzeria Raffaello
You might be surprised to find so many options for enjoying pizza, not only along this corridor but throughout the entire state of Yucatán. There’s no denying it: Yucatecos love pizza, in all styles and preparations.
No matter your favorite style, at Raffaello, you’re bound to find something you’ll fall in love with at first bite. Whether you choose to sit in the air-conditioned area or take advantage of the season and enjoy the fresh air on their terrace (where you can watch your dishes being prepared in the stone oven), the experience is delightful. If I had to recommend a pizza, I’d drive myself crazy trying to choose, but among my favorites are the Iván, the Fresquesita (yes, I’m a fan of arugula), and the Raffaello.
One thing I can confidently suggest is saving room for a starter (I’ve yet to meet anyone disappointed by the Crostoni Raffaello) and leaving space for dessert (in my case, I can’t skip the berry panna cotta). Trust me, deciding what to try here is a much harder mission than it seems. —A.N.

9. Gran Lumière
You might walk right past Gran Lumière without even noticing it. From the street, there’s little indication of what awaits you once you step through a small entryway and into (or rather out to) the interior patio where the restaurant's tables are set up.
Exploring this hidden gem is well worth it, as beyond the cozy and inviting atmosphere—whether on the terrace or in the air-conditioned area—Gran Lumière surprises with a remarkable selection of French-Mexican fusion dishes, often with an international twist. From my favorite starter, the tuna tartare on wonton pasta tostadas, to everyone’s favorite, their Bœuf Bourguignon, or a delicious couscous salad with shrimp or one of their specialty burgers, it’s hard to go wrong here. It’s no wonder Gran Lumière boasts top reviews across nearly every platform. —A.N.

If you’re anything like me, you probably love teasing your family and friends after a meal with the classic, “I need something sweet... how about dessert?” And let’s face it—it’s true! In my book, a meal isn’t complete without dessert. So, if you’re strolling down the corridor and that craving hits, don’t hesitate to stop by Artehelado.
This boutique gelateria & café is a charming little spot to enjoy delicious artisanal gelato or sorbet. They offer a wide variety of creamy flavors like dulce de leche, strawberries and cream, Papantla vanilla, and Carajillo. They also have fruity options such as soursop, strawberry with basil (and a hint of habanero), and oriental lime.
As if that weren’t enough, they’re always innovating with seasonal flavors, so be sure to check their social media to see the delicious surprises they unveil throughout the year. Beyond their gelatos, they also serve milkshakes and cakes. A must-stop for all dessert lovers! —S.A.

But let’s talk about the restaurant itself. Their menu offers delicious vegan creations, like their "no-wings," burgers, wraps, potato wedges, and their famous virria tacos (that’s virria with a V for vegan).
