Discover the magic of Tekax through an exciting day. From dawn with a delicious local breakfast to the exploration of fascinating grottos and the adrenaline of a zip line, the first day will immerse you in the beauty of the Mayan underworld. Recharge your energy with regional cuisine and venture onto natural trails before enjoying a dinner with options for all tastes and a well-deserved rest at the Hotel Cielo y Selva.

Day 1

The southernmost Magical Town in Yucatán invites you to discover the beauty of the Maya underworld. Start your day early with breakfast at El Alacrán (inside the market), then head out to explore the many options at Gruta Chocantes Park. Among its highlights are the caves—where calcium carbonate formations resemble dazzling waterfalls—and the zipline, which will have you soaring above the treetops.

Once your hunger for adventure is temporarily satisfied, make your way to Cañeros del Sur, the restaurant inside the Hotel Cielo y Selva, to recharge for the rest of your Tekax adventure. A light-to-intense hike after lunch is always a good idea, so why not re-energize with some hiking at Las Sartenejas II? If you’re looking for a different kind of cave experience, you can also visit some of the caves here without venturing too deep into Yucatán’s underground world.

For dinner, Tekax has something to satisfy every craving. From Lonchería Gorocica, where you can enjoy authentic Yucatecan snacks like panuchos, salbutes, tortas, and turkey broth, to Amorentia, which offers a more New-American menu of burgers, pizzas, and pasta.

When you’re ready to call it a day, head back to the Hotel Cielo y Selva for a restful night’s sleep, getting ready for what awaits you tomorrow.

Day 2

  • Breakfast at Tacos de Us
  • Chacmultún archaeological site
  • Cool off at the Hotel Cielo y Selva pool
  • Coffee or ice cream at the market’s second floor

Once again, start your morning at the market, this time at Tacos de Us (Lonchería La Económica) where you’ll find a variety of dishes (availability varies depending on the day and even the time, as some sell out early). The good news? Every option is delicious, so you really can’t go wrong here.

Next, we head to the Chacmultún archaeological site, named after its red stone mounds. The site is vast, so it’s best to come prepared for the heat and plenty of walking. Want to learn more? Check our guide: Chacmultún, a Maya Legacy.

Then, bid farewell to Tekax with a visit to the second floor of the market, where you can enjoy the breeze, a pleasant view of the town center, and a variety of coffee and ice cream options to sweeten your afternoon.
