One of the most remarkable things about Yucatán is the beautiful haciendas scattered throughout the state. Most of them combine colonial architectural styles with Spanish, French and Arabian influences. Today they function as boutique hotels, locations for events, and some offer the option of a day pass.

 

 

Hacienda Misné (“cat’s tail”)

 

Located 15 minutes from Centro Histórico on the east side of Mérida, near the Cancún exit, this 18th century building stands out for its colonial architecture, beautiful gardens, dreamy pool and tropical bar, all of which will contribute to your relaxing day.

Hacienda Temozón Sur (“the place of swirls”)

A majestic hacienda located in Abalá, at km. 182 of the Mérida-Uxmal highway. The grand entrance with a garden and pool will welcome you to the natural setting that is blended with luxury and relaxation.

Hacienda Yunku

You will find this hacienda at km. 6 of the Mucuyché – Sacalum highway, 45 minutes from Mérida heading south. Enjoy the comfortable hammocks, swim in the cenote (with life vests included), the pool, lounge chairs, and kids’ areas, as well as lockers and bicycles.

Hacienda Santa Cruz Palomeque

Easy access via the Periférico south of Mérida, Calle 86 in Santa Cruz Palomeque. This lovely hacienda offers many options for a day stay.

Hacienda Santa Rosa

Located on the Mérida-Campeche highway at the turnoff to Maxcanú, its impressive colonial style will delight all of your senses.

Hacienda Sotuta de Peón

Situated in Tecoh, this living hacienda rests in the heart of the henequén production area. You can learn the process and techniques to extract the henequén fiber, swim in the cenote, enjoy a tour of the grounds on the horse-drawn truck, and more.

Hacienda Tepich (“the place of the ‘pich’ tree”)

Close to the Cuzamá cenotes and in the Ruta Puuc, this hacienda is known for its for rabbit breeding as well as a restaurant specializing in this type of meat.

Piedra de Agua Hotel

Although it’s not a hacienda, its location in Mérida’s Centro Histórico provides a relaxation space inside the city with a day pass package for two people that includes a room from 10 am to 5 pm, access to the pool, two course menu (an entrée plus pasta dish), two non-alcoholic beverages. 10% discount on additional food and beverages and a couple’s massage.
