Cenote Club by Hacienda Yaxnic: The Ultimate Yucatán Day Pass Escape

As we settle back into the legendary heat of Yucatán, the craving for a getaway—even if just for a day—becomes undeniable. If you are looking for the perfect escape, the Day Pass at Hacienda Yaxnic is a magnificent choice. Located in the eponymous comisaría just 25 kilometers south of Mérida, it offers the ideal blend of history and modern luxury.

While the experience includes a guided tour of the former henequén estate and its lush gardens, the true crown jewel is the newly inaugurated Cenote Club by Hacienda Yaxnic. This complex is designed specifically for relaxation, making it the perfect spot to unwind with friends or a partner over great food and cold drinks.

What to Expect: A Day at Hacienda Yaxnic

The Day Pass provides full access to the hacienda and the Cenote Club. Upon arrival, my friends and I were welcomed with a tour that explored the property’s storied past. We wandered through the main house and the engine room (casa de máquinas), where the "green gold" (sisal) was once processed.

The tour also takes you through a beautiful chapel and the original living quarters, where the hacendados once stayed surrounded by treasures collected from around the globe. For a touch of darker history, you can even visit the original dungeon used in the hacienda's early days.

Luxury Meets Nature: The Cenote Club

The Cenote Club is an adult-only sanctuary designed to ensure a peaceful, sophisticated atmosphere. The pass makes everything easy, including locker use, towels, and—best of all—a $1,000-peso credit toward food and drinks.

Built around a stunning open-air cenote, the club is outfitted with:

  • Premium lounge chairs and shaded rest areas.
  • Lush, native Maya vegetation.
  • Full bar and restaurant service delivered right to your spot.

You could easily spend the entire day here. The menu is impressively diverse, featuring shared plates like guacamole and nachos, as well as hearty mains like arrachera steak, shrimp pasta, and wood-fired pizzas made to order. The drink menu spans from refreshing lemonades to classic margaritas and mojitos, ensuring the "vacation vibes" stay high all afternoon.

Dining and more at Hacienda Yaxnic

If you prefer a more traditional setting, the main Hacienda restaurant sits adjacent to ancient poplar trees and manicured gardens. It’s an ideal spot for breakfast or a long lunch, operating from 9 am to 4 pm.

For those craving a bit of adventure before hitting the water, Hacienda Yaxnic offers:

  • Bicycle Tours: Navigate the rugged, rocky terrain surrounding the estate.
  • ATV Adventures: For a high-octane way to explore the landscape.

While we drove ourselves, the hacienda also offers a convenient shuttle service with two pickup points in Mérida, making the trip entirely stress-free.

Plan your escape from the Mérida Heat

If you need a change of scenery near Mérida, Hacienda Yaxnic delivers. With packages starting at $849 pesos (which includes a $500-peso food and beverage credit), it is a fantastic value for an unforgettable day.

Pro Tip: Follow them on social media to catch their special events, ranging from sunset DJ sets to art workshops. It’s more than just a day trip; it’s a full vacation packed into just a few hours.
