After dark, Mérida’s nightlife has something for every taste. Our city has a variety of colors, tastes, and rhythms for your enjoyment, whether you are looking for theater, shows, or concerts, or perhaps a nice bar to spend the evening in, have a drink, and listen to some live music (including ballads, rock, electronic, and tropical sounds).

The variety of options may surprise you; here are just a few suggestions of places to go and things to do after the sun goes down in the Yucatecan capital.

First you have to decide whether to go out on the town in Centro, Paseo de Montejo, or the north part of the city.

If you are looking for fun in Centro…

There are many cultural options as well as bars and restaurants where you can spend a romantic evening listening to trova, such as in Amaro. If you like the idea of a variety of mezcals and some casual food, La Fundación Mezcalería has live Cuban music on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Staying with the cantina-type theme, La Negrita Cantina has a lively atmosphere, and traditional cantina drinks and food; as does El Cardenal Cantina.

If you want something more laid-back, head to Parque Santa Lucía and try Apoala, Bryan’s Burger Bar, Botella Verde, or Rosa Sur 32º for a pleasant open-air dining experience. Afterwards, mystery and delicious cocktails await you at Malahat Speakeasy.

Paseo de Montejo is a staple for nighttime entertainment too.

If an Irish pub appeals to you, Hennessy’s has a great variety of beers and international food, and live music for dancing on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. Or listen to Friday and Saturday live jazz on the rooftop terrace at Rosas & Xocolate.

A spectacular view of Monumento a la Patria awaits you at Cúbaro’s Roof Deck Lounge. Cinema and rock come together on Wednesdays at Delorean Bar.

If we go further north…

City Center comes alive at night, with plenty of options for dining, starting with a drink at Esvedra bar with its adult contemporary ambience, and go on to Poem Champagne Club. Plaza Mangus, just across the street, has 500 Noches bar, for an evening of trova, Italian food, and wines.

As you can see, there are options for every type of setting, taste, and budget. We promise you a night of fun no matter what you choose.
