We were lucky to bump in to Santa at Hacienda Yaxcopoil, one of our favorite places, and now one of his too! You may recall that we also crossed his path last year at this time, on the beach in Progreso. Apparently, he likes Yucatán very much! There are a lot of good reads this month, for example: Natalie Baur tells us about challenging herself to take photographs with a 60-year-old analog Rolleicord TLR camera. I have an identical camera in my house, which belonged to my parents in the 1950s! I have never tried to use it, but I now feel inspired to do so. Andrea Medina shares some wisdom about the 2012 “end of the world” scare that was attributed to the Maya...and she completely debunks the myth. She asks us to “reflect about the end of a cycle and prepare to start a new one in the best possible way: taking care of ourselves and the world we live in.” As you approach the end of 2018, I hope you will make some promises to yourself that will fulfill you and make you a better person.
