One of the most unique features of Yucatán is the abundance of flamingos that call this region home. They feed and mate in Celestún, and they nest in Río Lagartos. Isla Arena is just across the state line in Campeche. "It's a place with birds and pelicans as far as the eye can see, relaxing ocean sounds, and sunsets that will take your breath away." Did you know we have a tree with magic properties in Yucatán? It's called the "jabín." It's a beautiful tree and you'll see it in bloom all over Yucatán during the spring. Speaking of spring, on March 21 you can combine an event of nature with the incredible accuracy of Maya astronomy as it was integrated into architecture, and share a moment in time with the ancient Maya. The spring equinox was their signal to plant the crops, and they created two phenomena that are still visible to this day at the archaeological sites of Chichén Itzá and Dzibilchaltún. Don't miss them!
