On February 11 at 8 pm, Mérida celebrates the traditional Burning of the Bad Mood, a symbolic event meant to leave worries behind and welcome the joy that marks the start of Carnival. The gathering takes place at Bajos del Palacio Municipal, where Paleto and his tunes will also take the stage, setting the mood with music to dance and sing along to.
As part of Circo Carnaval Mérida 2026, this event is free to attend, but it tends to fill up quickly, so arriving early is recommended.
