The city’s marathon is called "Marathón" (also stylized as Marat’hon) in honor of Mérida’s ancient name, T’ho. Held annually since 1986, the full route starts at Monumento a la Patria, and passes through several of the city’s iconic landmarks. With options for 3K, 10K, 21K, or 42K, the Marat’hon Mérida has international appeal and is a certified qualifying event for the Boston Marathon.
