There are two options, the neighborhood tour and the north tour. During peak season, the Turibus leaves every half hour from 9 am until 8:30 for the north route departing from Paseo 60, and since 9:30 until 9 pm from the Catedral. The neighborhood route from the Catedral has tours from 9 am until 4:30 pm.
The bus has two levels, an open air area on the top that has 50 seats, and a lower closed area with 21 seats. The passengers can enjoy the ride while listening to the tour with headphones in four languages, Spanish, English, French and Italian.
Both routes will take you through the most emblematic places in Mérida, such as the Teatro Peón Contreras, Casa de Montejo, the Parque Santa Lucía, and the Centro Histórico de Mérida. You will be familiar with the Catedral, the Monumento a la Bandera, the Itzimná church and the Palacio G. Cantón.
On the bus there is a driver and a host who will hand you a notebook and coupon book and will answer any doubts you may have. The Turibus offers theme tours as well such as the “Flavors of Mérida,” a walkway through the city’s best gastronomical sites.
The price per person is $120 pesos for adults and $50 for children ages 5 – 12. For those with INAPAM credentials the price is $100 pesos. There is also a package for two or three days.
