Are you ready for a week in Yucatán? Discover Mérida’s Centro Histórico and the charm of colonial architecture in buildings like the Catedral de San Ildefonso, Casa Montejo, and Tercera Orden church. For lunch, try regional delights at Manjar Blanco in Santa Ana.
Visiting the Convent Route is like attending a buffet of Yucatecan attractions: archaeology, culture, cenotes, and colonial towns…this route has everything you will need to personalize a unique day trip. Some suggestions: Acanceh, Tecoh, Mayapán, cenote Noh Mozón, Chumayel, and Maní.
In the morning, explore Santa Lucía with its cute shops, restaurants, and architecture; it’s the perfect place to stop and buy souvenirs. In the afternoon, when the sun goes down a bit, walk down Paseo de Montejo; this promenade is a classic hangout for local families and couples.
Head to Valladolid, one of Yucatán’s most picturesque towns. Here you can walk down la Calzada de los Frailes to the San Bernardino former Convent and stop at beautiful boutiques along the way. You can also indulge in local cuisine, swim in heavenly cenotes, discover the area’s history, and so much more.
After breakfast at K’uxub, head to Ek Balam. This archaeological site is interesting for many reasons, including the variety of architectural influences and unique representations you’ll find there. When you conclude, take a dip in cenote X’Canché before returning to Mérida for lunch at Oliva.
Spend a day on the Costa Esmeralda and don’t forget your sunscreen. Head to the estuary outside Progreso and begin with a relaxing kayak paddle to check out the mangroves and birds. Then, go into Progreso to walk along the Malecón, enjoy the beach, and eat at one of the seaside restaurants.
Start your day in Hunucmá to see the lovely plaza, market, and artisanal shoe outlets. After exploring, continue on to Sisal and enjoy the rest of your day in this Pueblo Mágico filled with culture, gastronomy, and nature. Finally, return to Mérida and get ready for the trip home. Bon voyage!
