“It always seems impossible until it’s done.”
Nelson Mandela

The July edition of our magazine is one of the two biggest editions of the year; the other is December. These are the busiest tourism seasons in our state, and everyone wants to advertise in Yucatán Today! We added 12 pages of color ads this month. It kept us on our toes and there were moments, as Mr. Mandela says, when it seemed impossible to finish everything on time. But most importantly, it provided our team with the opportunity to meet new entrepreneurs, to hear their stories and their plans, and to accompany them on their journey to success. While you are reading the great editorials we have in this edition, take the time to look at the businesses that have great things in store for you!

For those of you who have asked for it, we have made some changes to our maps. More improvements to come next month.

One of the most-awaited events of the year is featured on our cover: Tunich, the annual artisan fair, takes place in the municipality of Dzityá just north of Mérida. You will have access to the creations of more than 100 artisans. Don’t miss it!

If you are fascinated by other cultures, check out the article about the “Entre Ayer y Hoy” festival of music and traditional arts. Indonesia is the guest country, with “gamelan” music performances and batik-making workshops. There will also be displays of Yucatecan music and dance.

If your wandering spirit is calling you, why not consider a few days on the unspoiled beaches of El Cuyo on the eastern side of our state. A true diamond in the rough, this small coastal town is just waiting to be discovered. Go there before the big hotels do!

Also we tell you all about the “Casa Maya,” to give you a peek inside a typical Maya village home. Hit the road and keep your eyes open, you will see them everywhere outside the larger cities. And as always, keep your copy of Yucatán Today close at hand!
