Marquesitas

1

Heladez is that feeling of chilliness in your bones, despite the temperature being in the 20sº C/70ºs F. Yucatecos fight it with coffee and Globitos wafers in the morning, and Marquesitas in the afternoon. Welcome to our winter!

Flamencos, Las Coloradas Parque Turístico

Winter, mind you, is also a great time to catch a glimpse of the flamingos on our beautiful Yucatecan coasts; Celestún can be your first stop to spot them. Remember to see them from afar, make sure not to disturb them!

El Cuyo

3

The “Volando con Aves” environmental rally is a great activity for the entire family; bring everyone along to El Cuyo on November 17. David tells you all about it.

Tekax - Callejón de los Murales, Murals Alley

Another family-friendly option is the Feria de Tekax! Plenty of good music, food, and handcrafts await from November 12 to 19. Remember, Tekax is the Yucatecan capital of adventure; enjoy an adrenaline-filled holiday!

And if you’re in Tekax, you’ll be just 20 minutes away from Tixméhuac, a lovely village with restored colonial buildings and extremely nice people. Don’t miss out on this corner of living culture.

Speaking of exploring, there’s a new crystal-clear cenote you can visit in Homún: Caliskutz. Entry fee: $70 pesos per person. FB: Cenote San Isidro

Buen fin

7

El Buen Fin is a great opportunity to get your holiday shopping started; stores will be offering special deals November 18-21. The 21st is a federal holiday, so expect to see many people out and about on Monday.

Feria de la Naranja

8

December kicks off with the traditional Orange Fair in Oxkutzcab. You’ll see Yucatán-themed structures made using this delicious fruit. Plus, a wide variety of offerings you’ll be able to taste. Let’s head south!

Antorchistas

9

Heads up! You’ll begin to come across Antorchistas (teams of devotional runners) on their way to celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12. Be careful (and patient) on the road to avoid accidents.

Don’t be startled by the noise beginning the very first second of December 12, by the way. Churches in every city and village will be celebrating. Keep your pets safe, and remember to be respectful if you visit any celebrations.
