In Yucatán, we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, but if you’re looking to have a traditional dinner, there are several options that don’t require an oven: Café Montejo (at Fiesta Americana), Delishop, in La Ceiba, and El Bull Pen, in Chelem, are just a few.

Food in our region is outstanding. Beyond traditional Yucatecan cuisine, you’ll find an endless number of international and fusion restaurants you’ll surely love. Arabic, Asian, and French are some of the highlights; don’t leave without trying at least one!

Birding season in Yucatán is on! Whether in the jungle or on the coast (where flamingos abound), this is a great time to spot the many different species that are beginning to escape the colder regions up north.

In preparation for the day of the Virgin of Guadalupe (December 12), you’ll start to see Antorchistas (runners and cyclists) on streets and highways throughout the state. Drive with caution; it is common for traffic to move slowly in the first half of December.

As this issue goes to print, the traditional Orange Fair in Oxkutzcab has yet to be confirmed, but the lifting of restrictions points to it taking place as it has since 1985 in the first two weeks of December. If so, it’s definitely worth the trip!
