Here’s to a 2023 full of fun and adventures! Yucatán will continually inspire you to love it more. Check our options on pages 36 – 38 and start preparing your next excursion.

Cenote Oxman

If you’re going full steam ahead and need more options—add a cenote to your list. For example, Cenote Oxman, located at a hacienda 5 km from Valladolid. We are not fibbing when we say you will have the best pictures!

La candelaria3

Since you’re near Valladolid, make sure to see the festivities honoring our Lady of Candelaria from January 25 – February 2. Join the many dances available and savor the local traditional cuisine.

Speaking of the Day of the Candelaria (Candlemas, February 2), have you ordered your tamales? Unless you’re making them yourself, it’s a good idea to plan ahead to avoid long lines. Ask at markets, street stands, and restaurants.

San Felipe - Playa Bonita5

Sun, beaches, sand, and a lot of tradition: grab your bathing suit and dancing shoes and head to the Patron Saint festivities in San Felipe, February 1 – 5. It’ll make for a perfect weekend!

A new place to check out: Quinta del Abuelo Solar Maya (the Grandfather Estate and Backyard) in Oxkutzcab, “a forest of native food and animals.” Their traditional food and workshops will fill your soul with joy. Visit them. FB: Quinta del Abuelo – Solar Maya

Momias de Santa Elena - Sur de Yucatán7

After visiting the Maya backyard in Oxkutzcab, add a stop at the Mummy Museum in Santa Elena. Entrance fee: $20 pesos. Mon. – Sun. 8 am – 5 pm

Take the best photos in Yucatan! Maculís trees are in full bloom, painting the town pink. Prepare you outfit and go take the best pictures of these stunning trees.

Malecon de progreso9

Are you making plans for February 14 and Valentine’s Day? Celebrating friendship and love, check out the night show in Dzibilchatún and the Malecón in Progreso.

Another option is the Magical Town of Maní and its Callejón del Amor; your date will be impressed. During the day you can check out the stingless bee tour, or take a Balak bike tour. FB: Visit Maní
