Carnaval de Mérida - Fiestas en Yucatán1

The Carnaval (Mardi Gras) is here! From February 15 – 22 join the celebrations and enjoy the parades, costumes, and concerts. Check out the complete lineup at:

Hacienda Teya - Papadzules

This February 22 is the beginning of Lent. Whether you are religious or not, take advantage and try the best Yucatecan meatless dishes that are made especially during this period. Try brazo de reina, papazules, or a good fish Tikin Xik.

Our Yucatecan “winter” is coming to an end which means that we can finally camp on the beach. For example, the Chabihau Palapitas have a camping area, volleyball court, and are pet friendly! Visit them FB: Palapitas Chabihau.

Sisal - Ciénega4

If you are up for a picnic on the beach, then you should spend the whole day in Sisal so that you can enjoy this unique experience and visit the crystalline spring Zul-Há. FB: Sisal Beach Tours

Valladolid, Calzada de los Frailes5

Make the most of your trip to Valladolid and visit the Community Museum Xpeten Áak en Yaxch’r. Here you will learn about traditional medicine, medicinal plants, and the local fauna. Call to make an appointment and they will accommodate you. Tel. 985 120 3456

Xpeten Áak is not the only community museum in Yucatán; there are 12 others that are all curated and lovingly maintained. Their histories and content are surprising; check the map in FB: REDMY

You cannot visit Yucatán without checking out Mérida at night. Explore the main avenue, the Paseo de Montejo, or if you prefer a different scene, check out the bars: La Negrita, Trópico 56, and La Mezcalería are a few names to remember.

If you have a passion for books, the International Book Fair is going to be right up your alley. From March 11 to 19 at the Siglo XXI Convention Center. FB: FILEY
