The way in which art and utopia interact is through the artists’ representations of utopia; creating great celebrations of life! Such utopian works may not provide all the answers to the world’s ills, but they certainly show us that there’s an alternative to the dystopia we currently live in.

SoHo Galleries invites you to join them for their upcoming “Utopia – Strokes From France through Mexico” opening exhibition on Saturday, December 1st at 7 pm. Featured artists: Lisa G born in Montreal, living and working in Paris; and David Roy Ocotla of México City.

Lisa G’s spellbinding images captivate the imagination and draw you into the characters she creates on canvas: magical faces and images of mythical animals hidden in nature. Her work can be seen in galleries throughout Europe and now, for the first time, here in México.

David Roy Ocotla’s “en vogue” images of young faces and places are bold, contemporary, and captivating. A mix of pop and classic, David’s work expresses the urban realities of his environment.

David exhibited in Art Expo Malaysia and Art San Diego in 2017 and 2018. This year, his work debuted for the first time in Art Fair Tokyo. He is currently exhibiting in galleries across the world including Limited Edition Gallery in Miami. This is David’s first exhibition in Mérida. Other guest artists will include:  Lizette Abraham – Mérida/CDMX, Mohamed Ledesma – Mérida, Federico Rivero – CDMX, and John Van Orsouw – USA.

Opening exhibition Saturday December 1, 2018, 7 pm.
