A Seven-Day Stay in Yucatán September 2017

Monday

Let’s start an amazing week! The Monday tradition is to eat “Frijol con Puerco” (pork and beans), so check our restaurants list and choose one. At night go to the “Vaquería” (regional dance) at the Plaza Grande in Mérida, it takes place at 9 pm.

Tuesday

Have breakfast at Santa Ana market; on Paseo de Montejo take the Turibus and get to know the city. Remember to get off the bus at the places you want to see. At 8:30 pm we’ll see you at Santiago park for a dance night with “Remembranzas Musicales.”

Wednesday

Head out early on the Puuc Route, wear your walking shoes so you can explore the caves, archaeological sites and colonial towns. For dinner head to Mercado 60 in Mérida Centro, for some great live music and delicious food.

Thursday

A day at the coast, drive north, have breakfast in Progreso. Then go to X’cambó, walk around the area, visit the Pink Lagoon, then go to San Crisanto mangroves. Back in Mérida at 9 pm enjoy the Yucatecan Serenade at Santa Lucía park.

Friday

Let’s visit the magic town of Izamal, discover the artisan workshops, the convent, the stores, and the streets, you will love them. Try some regional food at Kinich restaurant. And at 8:30 pm see you at Los Cañones park for a free guided tour of this pretty town.

Saturday

Have breakfast at Escargot Rústico in Mérida Centro and at 9:30 am take the free guided walking tour from Palacio Municipal, around the main square of Mérida. After that go to Hacienda Santa Cruz and get the day pass, relax and enjoy the lovely setting. At night have a cold beer at La Bierhaus in Colonia México, with great live music.

Sunday

Discover more, go to San Antonio Mulix cenote, cool off in its clear waters. After that go back in time at Hacienda Yaxcopoil. Back in Mérida, go around the north part of the city, do some shopping at any of the malls. See you soon back in Yucatán!
