Monday
Drive north along Prolongación Paseo de Montejo and visit Dzibilchaltún and the Museo del Pueblo Maya. Then head to Progreso and have some delicious seafood on the malecón (boardwalk). In the evening go to the “Vaquería Regional” in Mérida at the Palacio Municipal.
Tuesday
Wake up early and go to Chichén Itzá, followed by a visit to cenote Ik Kil and the Balankanché caves. You can stay in the area and enjoy the video mapping “Nochés de Kukulkán” at Chichén Itzá, it starts at 7 pm.
Wednesday
Visit the archaeological site of Ek Balám, and then drive to Valladolid and walk around downtown. Go to cenote Zací and to the San Servacio Cathedral. Don’t forget to try the “longaniza” or “lomitos” in Valladolid, delicious!
Thursday
Walk through Mérida Centro streets, and take the free tour at 9:30 am at the Palacio Municipal. Then use the free map of Mérida Centro and create your own art gallery tour. In the evening visit Parque Santa Lucía and enjoy the “Serenata Yucateca” at 9 pm.
Friday
Take the all-inclusive tour to Hacienda Sotuta de Peón, enjoy a full day of culture and traditions. At 8 pm go to the Plaza Grande in Mérida and watch the Pok Ta Pok show, a re-creation of the famous Maya ball game.
Saturday
Start your day at the Santa Ana market, and order some delicious Cochinita Pibil tacos. You can’t leave Mérida without visiting one or more cantinas; in Centro you can go to: El Cardenal, El Dzalbay, La Negrita, and more. Remember, you get free snacks with your beer.
Sunday
Relax in San Crisanto, go into the mangroves and enjoy the sand and sea. Have some delicious seafood for lunch and get energy for your trip back home. Close the week with a delicious dinner at Hacienda Xcanatún.
