Monday
Stay at Hotel Casa San Ángel on Remate de Paseo de Montejo. In the morning, take the Turibus to see the city. After your tour, have lunch at MUGY, where they have an unearthing of a Pib every day at 2:30 pm. At 9 pm, don’t forget the Vaquería (traditional dance) at the Palacio Municipal.
Tuesday
Start your day early to visit the site of Ek Balam where you can check out the Acrópolis and swim in cenote Xcanché. Before returning to Mérida, swing by Valladolid to eat at K’uxub, photograph the former Convent San Bernadino de Siena, and walk down the Calzada de los Frailes.
Wednesday
Start the day at the archaeological site of Dzibilchaltún, famous for its Temple of the Seven Dolls where the equinox is visible. After, head to Progreso to enjoy the beach, the Malecón, and a delicious shrimp Ceviche at Shark Restaurant.
Thursday
In the morning, learn about Yucatán’s Henequén past at Hacienda Sotuta de Peón where you will also enjoy a Yucatecan feast. In the evening, don’t miss the Serenata at Parque de Santa Lucía at 9 pm. Get there early to grab a spot, or sit at one of the many restaurants around the square.
Friday
Explore Mérida starting with a breakfast of Cochinita Pibil or shrimp tacos at the Mercado de Santiago, then visit the Centro. Later, you can see the videomapping on the cathedral’s façade either from the atrium, or from the balcony of Picheta, while enjoying an incredible dinner.
Saturday
Tour the historic Paseo de Montejo to see the majestic mansions and monuments. Don’t forget to visit Casa Museo Montes Molina to experience a Casona with original furnishings. At 9 pm, enjoy live music and traditional snacks at the Noche Mexicana on the Remate.
Sunday
The Centro closes its streets to traffic on Sunday mornings for the Biciruta and Mérida en Domingo. Check out traditional Yucatecan handcrafts and choose something special to take home. Finish your afternoon with a spectacular meal at Manjar Blanco in the Barrio de Santa Ana.
