Each month Yucatan Today visits a restaurant in order to describe what it has to offer. This is not a review; it is a summary of the menu, service, ambience, prices, and opening hours.

Specialty of the house: Arrachera – marinated steak cooked w/prickly pear cactus, onion, cheese, green bell pepper, beans and avocados.
Setting: a colonial mansion across the street from the Main Plaza in Valladolid.

Valladolid is a colonial city located two hours from Mérida, two hours from Cancún and 20 minutes from Chichén Itzá. When you visit this laid-back city you will not only be enchanted by the feeling of the area, but also be glad to know that some excellent food served in a nice ambiance awaits you.

Las Campanas restaurant, located on the Main Plaza, serves consistently good, tasty food at each meal. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, the large menu has something for everyone and good photos to help you figure out what some things are.

Order several side orders and share them (roasted jalapeño peppers stuffed w/cheese, nachos, guacamole, twice baked potatoes with delicious fillings, cowboy bean soups or roasted onions.)

Appetizers include tuna stuffed avocado, pecan cream cheese rolls, and melted cheeses with various toppings. Salads are varied and healthy!

For your main course choose between tacos, burritos, quesadilla, chicken or pork fajitas, shish-ka-bobs, almond chicken, breaded fish rolls stuffed with shrimp, cheese and garlic cream, Rib-eye and T-Bone steaks and various pastas. You can eat as light or heavy as you desire.

The Las Campanas owners are very grateful to all those that choose to eat with them. With this in mind they strive to make sure that each and every dish that leaves the kitchen provides excellent, tasty, attractive food.
