Box, April 18, 2016:

1 year old Box was picked up by a Merida Police car in Centro and brought to Evolucion. Sadly, we haven’t found his family so Box is now available for adoption. Box is a very energetic and playful boy so he needs an active family and space to run and play outdoors. He would be very happy in a home with a female pal. Box is neutered, dewormed and up to date on his shots. . Can you offer this handsome boy a new home?  If so, please call 999 193 0628.  Box is waiting.

If you can’t adopt a dog right now, perhaps you can foster, volunteer or make a donation?  Your support will extend the promise of a lifetime of love and happiness for all the animals at the shelter. At Evolucion, rescued is our favourite breed and we hope rescued is yours as well. Please share my story. Gracias.

EVOLUCIÓN IS RUNNING OUT OF FOOD: Ticks are a year-round problem in the shelter but this past summer was very bad for infestations.  We have spent over $20,000 pesos / $1,200 USD treating the dogs for Ehrlichia and other tick borne diseases, shampooing and dipping the dogs to control the ticks, and spraying facility-wide with Amitraz.  In a few, short weeks we will run out of money to buy food. PLEASE lend your support to our food drive by donating online at Evolucion Animal A.C.

Every week Yucatan Today publishes a photo and story about a dog or cat available for adoption from Evolución Animal, a shelter for abused, abandoned and neglected dogs. The sanctuary is running at full capacity and no dogs are being accepted at the present time.

Sanctuary Evolución is a volunteer-run organization working to protect animals from abuse and neglect. While Evolución exists as a dog sanctuary, the organization focuses on educating the public about responsible pet ownership, provides no charge spay/neuter clinics to low income families, and conducts anti-violence and environmental awareness campaigns.

Sanctuary Evolución houses more than 230 abused or abandoned dogs waiting for their forever homes. While at the sanctuary these dogs have a safe haven, including basic medical and preventative care, and food to ensure they don’t go to sleep hungry.  Although adoption rates are improving, for every dog that finds a loving home, there are two or more left outside the shelter gates or rescued from the streets.

With the proceeds from fundraisers, we have been able to make much needed improvements to the facility, spay and neuter most of the dogs and ensure that every dog receives basic medical care. However, food is our biggest expense and even with a discount from our supplier, the sanctuary needs 5,800 pesos for food each and every week.  If you care about animals, we are asking you to lend your support and become a monthly food donor.

YOU CAN HELP… 166 pesos feeds a shelter dog for an entire month! Go to evolucionanimal.org and donate online.

Evolucion is a non-profit organization, registered with Hacienda – RFC #EKU110127FRA.
