This month we’d like to take you on the second tour of the Mérida café scene. There are more and more options every day, all easy to get to and each with its own specialty. Which one is your favorite?

Voltacafé

Every great idea starts with a cup of coffee, so the concept of this delicious place, located in the north part of the city in the Altabrisa area, is that “tertulias” (gatherings) come back to life. Try the homemade bread with a cup of fresh coffee, it can be prepared on a Chemex coffeemaker. Delicious!

Café Tala

Tala, Persian for “gold,” is located inside the Casa San Ángel hotel. It offers everything from breakfast to dinner, but in this occasion we are going to talk about their café. One of the house specialties is their bakery, of course together with a wide variety of teas, coffees and delicious, perfect hot chocolate. While you are there, make a stop at the folk art store 100% México, we bet you’ll be tempted to buy everything you see.

Pistache Patisserie & Boulangerie

You’ll find this cozy little place on Paseo de Montejo. French pastries are the house specialty. Order a decadent dessert, or if you’re very hungry ask for a croissant sandwich. While you’re eating, you’ll have one of the best views of the beautiful trees along Paseo de Montejo. Pistache has other locations in the north part of the city as well.

Petit Délice

It is said that happiness is based on French desserts, so if you are in love with these kinds of sweets, you must visit Petit Délice, located in the north part of Mérida. You will find an amazing variety of desserts, together with a variety of styles of teas and coffees. Try “La Vie en Rose,” the house specialty, together with a macaroon. You are going to want more!

To begin the day, a cup of coffee is a must. Latte Quattro Sette offers more than a perfect coffee; the lovely café is decorated in white with wood, so your inner Instagram photographer will want to come out and take lots of photos, of course together with a yummy “dolce” and a latte.

Bengala Kaffeehaus

Amazing coffee, great music and delicious variety: these are some of the characteristics from Bengala Kaffeehaus. At the moment they have two locations, one in Santiago and the other in Santa Lucía, but soon there will be more. Ask for a Vanilla Ice Cream Espresso, it’s out of this world!
