Mercado 60 opened its doors in May of 2016 on Calle 60, just one block from the popular Santa Lucía park in Mérida’s Centro. It is a gastronomic and cultural space, bringing together 18 different restaurants, offering an incredible variety and culinary quality, along with daily live music and special events each month.
The owners, Guillermo Acosta and Natalia Uprimny are betting on this trendy worldwide concept in Mérida, the “Capital Americana de la Cultura,” converting our city into a national hot spot; not only because of its cultural aspect but also because of the quality of the gastronomy.
The idea was born when Guillermo lived in Madrid, a city where one of the first gastronomic markets began, the famous Mercado de San Miguel. At first, he wanted to take the concept to México City, but nobody believed in his idea.
After some years, Guillermo opened his first restaurant in Mérida, La Central Gourmet, followed by the opening of La Burger House, created in conjunction with his wife Natalia. Looking for a second location for both places, they found an abandoned property that reminded them of their old project: a gourmet market. This is how Mercado 60 was born, the first gastronomic and cultural market in Mérida, with daily live music; along with the Mexican touch of a great environment and excellent party atmosphere, this has become the new hot spot in town.
The Mercado 60 restaurant participants are La Barra del 60, La Barra VIP, La Burger House, El Hocho Loco, Taco Grill, Lego Pizza, El Ring Con Wings, Ichi Sushi, Sweetnes.
