From the balcony of the first villa, the view of the Pyramid of the Magician is spectacular and a constant reminder of the glory of Uxmal.

A picture speaks 1,000 words and we feel that one of our cover pictures, The Lodge at Uxmal, says a lot. But, to not keep you in suspense, we will tell you all that can’t be seen in our incredible cover photo. First off, access to the ancient Uxmal pyramids from The Lodge at Uxmal could not be better!

Just 30 meters from the entrance to the site, you will find The Lodge to be a special place. Nestled in the jungle and around two pools, 40 spacious rooms and suites are distributed among five, two-story villas built using tropical woods and materials native to the region.

Each room is tastefully decorated with aged mahogany woods, Mexican tiles and ceramics, stained glass windows of the local fauna, and intricately carved doors with Maya motifs. Each room also has a balcony with rocking chairs and traditional Maya hammocks.

Suites include ample bathrooms with a private Jacuzzi and a king size bed; standard rooms feature two double beds and ample bathroom with a tub. All accommodations have mini-split air conditioning, ceiling fans, Servi-Bars and satellite color TV.

Around the pool you will find lounge chairs and a nearby palapa that houses the spacious, open-air restaurant built in the architectural style of tropical Yucatán. Exploration of the grounds can be done on foot.

The Lodge is great for honeymooners, older travelers, families with young children, and families with teenagers. The Lodge at Uxmal is known for being pleasant and quiet.

Dining at the Lodge includes Mexican classics, international standards, and a selection of Yucatecan cuisine. Breakfast is a buffet of infinite variety; and the hotel bar stocks an endless list of the nation’s finest tequilas. Folkloric Yucatecan dance troupes perform during the season, and guitar trios play the music of Yucatán’s most beloved composers. Children under 12 years old are free of charge in the same room as their parents.

Lodge guests enjoy full privileges at their neighboring sister hotel, Hacienda Uxmal, with its two pools and outdoor grill. Hotel Hacienda Uxmal is the world’s oldest hotel hacienda. A favorite of world personalities. Past guests include Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip of Great Britain, Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco, and Jacqueline Kennedy. Carlota, Empress of Mexico was an honored guest of the old hacienda Uxmal in 1865.

Tickets to Uxmal Light and Sound Show, staged nightly at the park, are available at the front desk at either hotel.

The site was declared a United Nations Heritage Site in 1997 and is the kingpin of the largest concentration of Maya archaeological sites in the world.
