“Open your heart. I admit I have some mighty big shoes to fill,” – Sideshow Bob.

Welcome to a new issue of Yucatán Today! Those who just occasionally leaf through the magazine might not see any difference, but our more thorough readers will notice that I’m new here. I joined this effort a little over a month ago, and it’s only taken me this short time to realize the people behind it are an amazing team, and it’s truly a privilege to be a part of it.

I’m well aware that I’m taking over for someone who not only did a stellar job during a critical moment for the entirety of human civilization, but who also pretty much has her love for Yucatán Today (and our state!) tattooed in her heart: Maggie Rosado. I hope that my own love of Yucatán does justice to her work and that of Juanita Stein, her predecessor, but also to the trust our readers and advertisers have placed on the magazine throughout these many years.

I believe that getting to know one another is a great way to start. What I can tell you about me is that I’m Yucatecan by birth and that I love to explore and learn; I suppose that’s why I love to travel and discover new places and their history. In the more everyday realm, I like to read, eat and watch documentaries. I’d summarize by saying that I’m curious by nature; that’s why today I’d like to ask you, dear reader: Who are you? Why do you read Yucatán Today? What do you enjoy about our magazine? What would you like to see in it? How can we improve it?

You are the reason why this magazine is in print every month; we absolutely want you to be actively involved in its contents. Please drop me an email, now and at any time you feel like it. I hope to hear from you soon!
