“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”-A.A. Milne (Winnie-the-Pooh)
With very mixed emotions I’m writing my last letter as Editorial Director of Yucatán Today. I’m leaving the magazine after 11 years, to pursue my dream of opening a bookstore here in Mérida. I’m excited…but it is a very difficult goodbye.
Yucatán Today has been my home away from home. It has been my honor and my pleasure to contribute my small part to the continued growth and evolution of the magazine. I have seen many changes; we’ve laughed a lot; and we’ve shed a few tears as well. Working with Andrea, our director, has been an inspiring, wonderful experience. And I am proud to have worked alongside such a great team of co-workers: Renée, Ali, Roberto, Abi, Maggie, Margo, Eli, Mary, Tere, Alfredo, Julio, Beto, Francisco, your commitment and your dedication make the creation of a new magazine each month an absolute pleasure. Our contributing writers impress and delight me with their creative genius and passion for excellence. And to Judy, our founder, thank you for inviting me to be a part of your creation. Along with Juan Manuel, your vision and love for Yucatán have been my inspiration since my very first day.
To my family of advertisers: without you, there would be no magazine! It’s been a pleasure knowing you and working with you. I’ll be keeping you company now, advertising my new store in upcoming editions.
And finally, dear reader, you are the reason we do what we do every day. Thank you for reading these pages and telling us how much you love our work. Maggie Rosado will be taking on the role of Editor; she is, quite simply, a star, and you’ll love her editorial touch. Congratulations Maggie and I could not be leaving the magazine in better hands!
Goodbye for now…and keep on reading!
