Being a super fan of Mr. Marley, I couldn’t resist this quote to set the scene for the May edition. And right about now, with the high temperatures we endure in May, I am looking very forward to hearing, smelling, and as Bob Marley suggests, feeling the first summer rains. If you are similarly anxious for the rains to begin – or even if you’re more of a dry weather species – you must read Maggie’s fascinating look at Yucatecan rain lore on page 4.
And for those balmy evenings after the rain, what could be better than watching a movie under the stars? There are several open-air cinemas in Mérida. Bring a blanket to sit on and something to munch on and enjoy! On page 5, Claudia tells us what the options are.
In the breaking-barriers department, we searched out a local company that takes people with physical disabilities on tour in Yucatán. Cenotes, caves, and archaeological sites are off limits for no one with the help of Sacred Waters Expeditions. Violeta went along for the ride recently and shares her observations on page 6.
Cassie took her kids on a “glamping” weekend in Homún. She ended up falling in love with Hameki Glamping…with comfy beds, spotless bathrooms, a spectacular swimming pool, a bar on site and marshmallow roasting over a campfire at night, what’s not to love?
