“The joy of discovery is certainly the liveliest that the mind of man can ever feel,” Claude Bernard.

Dear reader:

Isn’t it great that summer is finally here? These long days when we get to enjoy the sunlight past 7 pm are, to me, priceless: you can get more out of each day and explore, discover, and enjoy. And the wonderful thing about Yucatán is that every day there’s something new to discover. Everywhere you look you’ll see new places, new experiences, new flavors; some are new because they weren’t there before, and some are new because you didn’t know they existed. Here you’ll find plenty of both!

As a funny coincidence, in this edition, we’re bringing you a few ideas and activities that you may be familiar with already, but in a way or from a perspective that (we hope) is much less common. Of course, you know haciendas exist, and you know you can visit them, but did you know that you can go spend the day there with your friends or family? Did you know that there’s options for every budget? Did you know that there’s a liqueur that’s 100% local, and that it’s now being featured in signature cocktails all over town? Were you aware that our beaches offer endless action-packed activities you can take up? I’m thrilled to be sharing all this with you, because I love to have Yucatán surprise me over and over again, and very few things bring me more joy than being able to let you in on these discoveries.

You don’t need a week, my friend (though if you do have a week to take the less beaten path around Yucatán, we’ve got you covered too). One day is enough to step away from the usual and discover a new side to this beautiful state. You can’t do much better than choosing a summer day to do so!
