“The more you celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” – Oprah Winfrey
Celebration: that’s exactly what’s on our mind this month. January 15 marks Yucatán Today’s 33 birthday, and we are so grateful for the continued opportunity to show travelers our state.
Creating a new magazine each month isn’t always easy, but over the years we’ve been fortunate to have an incredible family of staff, contributing writers, advertisers, and of course, many wonderful readers from around the globe! Because of this collection of people, we can continue doing what we love even through hard times.
To begin this issue’s festivities, Violeta discusses some classic Yucatecan flavors – make sure to include them in your next visit! On page 7, Ralf revisits Mérida’s Centro Histórico and points out some of the changes 2020 left behind. If you wish to continue exploring the White City, check our pages 9, 10, and 11 to learn about some of the most representative examples of Maya revival architecture, the Museo de la Canción Yucateca, and to stop by your local Tiendita. Also, discover the inspiration behind Casa T’HŌ with Olivia on page 17.
If you’re looking forward to a little road trip, Carlos takes you kayaking with La Ría Progreso on page 8, and Cassie tells you about her social-distancing weekend in Valladolid with the whole family on page 13, which includes unique accommodation, cenote-hopping, and so much more. On page 35, Ralf rounds up five foodie destinations in Yucatán, and the read could not be more delectable.
This month, we raise our glass to you – thank you for being a part of Yucatán Today. We hope to continue being your guide to Yucatán for many years to come.
