Spring is a time to find out where you are…and move toward where you are going. (Penelope Trunk)

This wonderful quote about spring introduces us to a festive time of year in Yucatán: Easter vacation! Most schools in México are closed from April 13 to 28. With that in mind, be aware that archaeological sites, beaches, and other popular destinations might be more crowded than usual. Yucatecan families spend time together and play tourist in their own home town, and families from other states come to see all the great things Yucatán has to offer.

And don’t forget this is a religious holiday, so keep your eyes open (especially on Good Friday and Easter Sunday) for remarkable religious processions, masses, and other events.

If you’re travelling with children, it’s a good moment for us to share some ideas with you about how to enjoy archaeological sites with your kids. Cassie’s article on page 6 offers some great tips!

Violeta takes you on tour this month to Sisal (page 8) and Dzidzantún (page 53). Find out why she has fallen in love with both of these destinations…again. And on the gastronomy scene, Cassie visited a few restaurants with cuisine from other parts of the world: Israel, Japan, Peru, and Thailand. Read about her “world” food journey on page 35.

Other good reads this month: Maggie offers some “aha!” moments in her explanation of popular Yucatecan beliefs, on page 9; Claudia introduces you to a few of the city’s tattoo and piercing studios on page 5; Violeta gives you an inside peek at the tradition of pasta tile making in Yucatán, on page 4; and also from Violeta, on page 7, an inspiring visit with Maricarmen Pérez, Yucatecan musical and cultural icon.

Start moving toward where you are going!
