“Nothing builds self-esteem and self-confidence like accomplishment.” Thomas Carlyle

I’m inspired by accomplishment this month! There is a sense of pride that runs through this edition.

A traditional Yucatecan recipe, our stunning cover photograph, and an award-winning cookbook all come together click here, where we share the story of Doña Soco’s pride in her cooking. Food lovers won’t want to miss this.

What do you think of when you hear the word “Yucatecan”? Trova music? Cochinita? Guayaberas? These things all fall into this category, and are likely topics for our monthly editorial “It’s Very Yucatecan.” But this month we are proud to bring you a more contemporary topic: the story of a local technology start-up that is providing solutions you can use in your everyday life. Read about Blastbot on page 4 from our online magazine. And speaking of contemporary, on page 6 we have some ideas for your “Hipster” shopping, all proudly Yucatecan designs.

On page 5 you will learn about our beloved local soccer team, Los Venados. Their loyal fans adore them! Go to a game and join the fun.

One of our advertisers has made his French bakery dream come true and has recently opened his third location. Read all about Escargot Panadería and Escargot Rústico on page 14.

And finally, some pride of our very own! The “Colonial Town” about Kinchil was written by Alfredo Tec Alonzo, who works here in the assembly of our magazine. Kinchil is his hometown and he wanted to share some of its traditions with us all.

You’ll find all this and more in this month’s magazine. Enjoy!
