#SeeItInYucatanToday
This month our “famous quote” is our very own new hashtag! Look for it on our Facebook page, Instagram, and Twitter. We want you to find it, share it, and use it.
For those of you who are not so tech savvy, and have seen hashtags everywhere but in fact do not know what they are, essentially a hashtag is a type of label used on social networks which makes it easier to find messages within a specific theme. If you search for a specific hashtag, you will find all the messages that have been tagged with it.
Yucatán Today is working hard to create content – both in print and online – that resonates with all of our different audiences; and of course we want to increase our online community. One way we can do that is to connect all our online content with our hashtag. The other way is to get YOU involved! While you are travelling around our state with your copy of Yucatán Today magazine, take a selfie or ask someone to take your photo with the magazine in hand. Or, if you are already back home, and you still have a copy of the magazine (even if it is an older edition), take a photo reading the magazine in an iconic spot in your hometown! After all, you are dreaming of returning to Yucatán, right? Then, tag us and use the hashtag. Thank you!
Speaking of selfies: our cover story this month is about “gremios;” these are processions of guilds which take place from August to October each year. Our irresistible cover photo is the ultimate blend of yesterday and today; the young girls are dressed in traditional attire for their “gremio” procession; but their cell-phone selfie brings it all into the present, where it equally belongs.
Elsewhere in this edition you can discover the sweets of Yucatán; read about our lively theater scene; take a self-guided gastronomy tour; and meet a Cuzamá elder. Enjoy this edition; and #SeeItInYucatanToday!
