It’s a new year and we have lots of great things in store for 2017. We will be keeping you informed about all the cultural events you can enjoy in Mérida this year; we are proud of our city, which has been named for the second time as “Capital Americana de la Cultura.”

Have you noticed that Yucatecan Spanish is different from other parts of México? Here you can learn why…and a few phrases to help you understand the way we speak. If you are a fan of classical music, be sure to read all about the International String Quartet of Yucatán on our online magazine. Their popular concert series takes place at Hacienda Santa Cruz this season. Fans of Yucatecan cuisine will want to read all about the cooking classes at Hacienda Petac read here. This is a perfect option if you have a group of up to 12 people and want a hands-on cooking experience.

Did you know that “chicle” (chewing gum) originated right here in Yucatán? Read about this fascinating history on our online magazine. And check out our Events Calendar  for plenty of things to do…you will want to put the Telchac Jazz Festival on your calendar for sure!

You might want to include the “Virgin of the Candelaria” Festival and “Expo Feria” in Valladolid in your travel plans (Read it on our online magazine). Processions, music, food, and fun for the whole family are in store for you!
