Are you visiting Mérida or do you live here? Either way, there’s one place in Mérida Centro that you can’t miss: only half a block from Parque Santa Lucía you will find Kukul Boutik. I wouldn’t call it a store; rather a journey through the high-end design handcrafts of our country.
They have amazed us for the past years, with unique pieces from our state and Oaxaca, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Ciudad de México and more. The creativity is reflected in each one of the articles showing the store’s vision and of course that of its owner, Diana Castelán. You will be able to find decor and household items, clothing, purses, jewelry, and even baseball caps.
Something that’s good to know is that if you make a purchase at Kukul Boutik, the income will be divided in half: 50% to the artisans and Mexican designers who have their products there, and the other 50% is for travelling around México in order to bring more new products to the store.
We asked Diana if she could describe her boutique in three words, and she answered us: “handcrafts, design, and Mexican,” and let me tell you that these three concepts are incorporated into each and every piece, along with Diana’s passion and love of our country and of all the beautiful artisan hands that create so many beautiful things in textiles, jewelry, paper and much more.
When you visit Kukul Boutik, ask Diana to tell you the story behind the product that you are buying. To reach some of them she literally had to cross mountains and muddy roads in order to bring them to Mérida. I’m sure you will be delighted…and of course you won’t leave the store without something new for yourself or as a gift for someone you love!
