“El Jaguar”, a Jack Nicklaus Signature course in Mérida:
“El Jaguar” began with a spectacular site that allowed us to create a special design born from the dense jungle vegetation and enhanced by fresh water lagoons and Maya ruins. Our desire is that every golfer finds El Jaguar to be a memorable as it is playable. “El Jaguar” is a course of 18 holes, par 72, with a distance of 7295 yards. It has a feature unique in Mexico: in the second round, its configuration is: three par 4, three par 3, and three par 5, putting the player’s strategies and abilities to the test.
A “Nature-friendly” course:
The greens in the entire course are of the latest technology (Seashore Paspalum SDX-1). This allowed the creation of an environmentally-friendly course. It uses 50% less water, and is irrigated with water which, due to its high salinity, acts as a natural weed killer. Another important characteristic is that it uses double the amount of carbon dioxide of most plants, creating a natural filter which generates purer air to the course, made up of more than 800 thousand square meters of green area. All of these features give the player a pleasant climate and environment in which to play year-round.
