gina-osorno-1Music is melody and harmony, sounds and silence in a constant balance, emotions and passion expressed in words: a connection that can reach your heart.

That is how Gina Osorno lives and feels music. Gina is a self-taught singer with a powerful voice who can delight you with jazz, swing, bossa nova, and rock. Her versatility and authenticity is evident the moment you hear her begin to sing. For this reason, she is one of the more recognized and popular singers in Mérida; a diamond that shines with her own light wherever she sings.

Graphic designer by profession, for nearly ten years she worked in her field. Then, five years ago, she decided to dedicate herself completely to music. Her band, The Copy Paste, was founded four years ago as a group that has blues, rock, and funk gina-osorno-2covers in their repertoire, mainly in English. They successfully perform in restaurants, bars, and events. It’s always delightful listening them.

As part of Gina’s personal projects and her love to jazz, at the end of 2015, Gina founded The Dreamers, a band that specializes in the rhythms of the 20’s and 30’s, including swing and jazz. With the special touch of the double bass of Hugo Aguilar accompanying Gina’s sultry voice. They usually perform at weddings and special events.

For the past two years, Gina has shared the stage with Mérida Big Band Jazz on stages including the Peon Contreras Theater and the Full Moon Jazz Festival in Telchac Puerto. She has been part of festivals in the states of Sonora, Campeche, and Tabasco, and at the Yucatán Week in the Palacio de los Deportes in México City.

gina-osorno-3When you hear Gina for the first time, you will be amazed and enchanted by her singing gift. Without formal music training, but with more than 16 years experience, her versatility shows that she is a natural born singer. Inspired by singers like Ella Fitzgerald and Amy Winehouse, jazz is her favorite type of music, with the added bonus of providing opportunities to use vintage costumes and makeup that can transport you to another era.

During the last few years she has being working on personal projects with original music and her own lyrics. In the future she is planning a CD with unpublished songs as well as performing at the Lunario of the Auditorio Nacional, a dream that she wants to make come true; also performing in another country and stages where she can show more of her own particular jazz style.
