Next year, Mérida will host a unique event: a festival that will bring together several Mexican products under one roof for an authentic cultural fiesta which celebrates the country’s best flavors. Want to know more? I’ll tell you all about it.

It’s called Expo Festival Las 4 Estaciones and it will take place May 29 – 31, 2020. Its aim is to be a forum for the country’s most iconic beverages which it will separate into four pavilions: Beer, wine, tequila and mezcal, and coffee. At this event, attendees will have the opportunity to try beverages hailing from different Mexican states.

Visitors will be able to sample different products and enjoy a cultural fiesta which will include a culinary area, musical entertainment and folkloric dance presentations, conferences for entrepreneurs, contests, and more.

The organizing committee also mentions that they look to break three world records within the activities of this celebration: the largest Sopa de Lima, the largest introductory class to wine, and the largest Mezcal tasting. The festival will also feature gastronomy from different Mexican states, with Yucatecan food being the host of this event.

The dynamic team organizing this one-of-a-kind festivity is directed by Harumi Cosau, chef, sommelier, and entrepreneur. Harumi mentions that tickets will be very affordable and people will be able to buy tickets to either individual pavilions or all-access passes which will allow them to visit and taste the products from all stations.

This event also looks to offer support through their “Tianguis Atípico” (Atypical Market) to young entrepreneurs, sustainable products, individuals with mental health challenges, and artisans with limited financial resources. At the Tianguis Atípico, these individuals will have an open space where they can sell their products and creations.

Upon concluding this event, a non-profit organization called “Attention and Treatment for ADHD and Gifted Individuals” (ATTAC, in Spanish) will be established. This organization will provide schools with the necessary support for diagnosis and early treatment of ADHD as well as support for gifted individuals.
