If I were asked to describe this place, I would say “eclectic,” “unique,” and “passionate,” but why? Come with me us to discover Galería Tres Pájaros.

At the entrance to Izamal you will find this one of a kind gallery: as soon as you enter, you will discover a variety of items of different styles, characteristics, techniques, colors, and years. What, years? Yes, that’s right, they also have antiques from the 18th and 19th centuries, among which are an unusual selection of crosses, saints and crucifixes that are worth seeing. Also you will see furniture, masks, and even one of the first ice cream carts in Izamal, completely made from wood. Plus you will see a unique blend of Maya, Mexican and international items, many from Izamal, nearby towns, and the rest of México.

Among the pieces that you will see in this charming place, half are from local Izamal artisans, and the other half are from other states of México and other countries, for example Cuba: they have an excellent variety of paintings from well-known artists from our island neighbor. One thing is for sure, every time you visit the gallery you will find new pieces of art.

A very unique detail about this gallery is its location: as I have already mentioned, they are in the magical town of Izamal, but with a country feeling, where you will hear the birds singing and the feel the cool breezes while you are visiting. Notice how the pieces they have on their porch stand out against the cobalt blue walls, and notice the doors and windows, because they were surely created by a local artisan. In the coming months, the gallery’s expansion will be ready. More art in the same place!

So now you know, on your next trip to Izamal, add Galería Tres Pájaros to your list of stops; whether you go with the idea of buying something specific or just getting to know the gallery, you will love it. But I should tell you that most people who come to the gallery take something home with them. This something can be an incredible piece of art or an antique; and of course, an enormous smile on your face after meeting the owners, Wendie and Bill, who will share their passion for their unique place with you. Special tip: ask them which pieces were made or designed by them!
