In 2013, Alicia Gamboa and Franz Bieri – B&G – opened a workshop in Colonia García Ginerés for the production and sale of leather items. Alicia and her apprentices work completely by hand to make leather sandals, shoes, handbags, and belts. Since October 2015 the workshop is located very close to Paseo de Montejo. In addition to the various leather items, you can find clothing and handcrafts from different parts of the country.

Alicia, originally from Mérida, worked in Switzerland for 20 years as an anthropologist, where she also learned the craft of shoemaking. She perfected a technique of hand stitching that allows leather shoes to be sewn by hand simply and quickly. She returned to Mérida in 2011 with her husband Franz, to make her dream come true of having her own handcrafted shoe workshop. Fer and Adriel, the apprentices, work with care, dedication, and concentration in their new trade. If you have a couple of days to spare, you can order your favorite style to measure and in your choice of color.

People from all over the world come to the workshop, where English, Spanish, German, Italian, French and Maya are spoken. The small museum with the shoe collection attracts a great deal of interest as well.
