Welcome to Yucatán! Let’s begin by exploring Mérida’s Centro Histórico; admire historical buildings, boutiques, and restaurants. To end your first day, nothing beats a Marquesita with Queso de Bola (Edam cheese) in one of the city’s parks.
Time for a getaway to the coastal town of Chelem. Stay at the charming Río y Mar Apartments and take a boat ride of the estuary to see the local plant and wildlife. Enjoy lunch at The Bullpen and spend your afternoon on the beach feeling the fresh breeze and sunshine on your skin.
Visit one of the state’s oldest archaeological sites: Dzibilchaltún on your way back to Mérida. Spend a night with safety protocols, rhythm, and a great vibe – live music and many culinary options await at Mercado 60.
Start early and head to Valladolid. Explore the folk art museum Casa de los Venados and the Calzada de los Frailes, then have a healthy and yummy lunch at Yerbabuena de Sisal. In the afternoon, take a dip in cenote Zazil Tunich.
Hit up the colossal site of Chichén Itzá in the morning. Back in Mérida, take a walk down Paseo de Montejo and go into Montejo 495 (open 9 am – 5 pm), savor a Champola at Sorbetería Colón, and treat yourself to dinner at Hennessy’s.
Set out on an adventure to the cenotes of Homún; they have an option for every travel style. Swim in Santa Bárbara if you’re going with young children, or if you’re thrill-seeking, try Canunchén or Ch’el P’aak. You can check out several cenotes and move around by motor taxi!
For your last day, begin with a delectable breakfast at Tala, located inside Hotel San Ángel in the Remate de Paseo de Montejo. Then, go souvenir-hunting in Santa Lucía, you’ll have no trouble finding something special in the beautiful shops of this Barrio. Have a safe trip home!
