SoHo Galleries
Now that SoHo Galleries has been open for some time, the consensus is clear: this gallery is unique. Their sales to date have exceeded expectations and the gallery is a real success. Prices of original art are accessible and affordable.
SoHo Galleries has three different, unique spaces; it is really three galleries in one. In one space, there will be evolving guest artists from Yucatán and other parts of México.
In another space, there is a collection that will appeal to those who are collectors of art from the Renaissance to the 20th century. This is a truly special collection of rare European and North American classic engravings, including one by Rembrandt. Prints you would expect to find through a broker in New York or London are available here in Mérida.
And in the other space, artist-in-residence Nicholas Lavroff presents his visions of Mérida. Through digital photography, Nic's colors and textures come to life. He finds beauty in decay, taking photos of old doors, signs, buildings, and streets.
Would you love to take home a piece of art from the gallery but aren't in a position to invest in an original? Limited edition, high-quality prints are available at a much lower cost, signed by Lavroff or the guest artist. Prints can also be requested for the engravings. This is an affordable way to bring home a piece of Mérida.
SoHo Galleries continues its promotion of local and international artists. In addition to work by local artist Carol Acereto and Artist-in-Residence Nicholas Lavroff, SoHo will be introducing recent works by two young artists, Viviana Hinajosa and Manuel Taure García, as well as a selection of works by Cuban artists. Also included in the collective show will be photographs by Roberto Cárdenas Cabello, paintings by veteran artist Alfonso Durán Vázquez, and work by California artist Michele Maggiora.
"We are highlighting the work of six or seven artists, each with a unique style and approach to art," said Adele Aguirre, co-owner of SoHo Galleries. "Whether you are completing a design for your home, hotel or business, you will be sure to find just the right piece for your particular environment and your budget. Works will range in price from 1000 pesos or less to 25,000 or more for large-scale originals."
In addition to original art, SoHo continues to offer limited edition giclee reproductions, signed and numbered by the artist.
