Neek Kaan, Environmental Life
Neek Kaan is a new style of apartment complex, currently being developed on the coast of Yucatán, in the Port of Progreso. The ideology of the complex is focused on using to maximum advantage the beauty of the sea and the coastal dune vegetation native to the region, to create an environment that is modern, comfortable, pleasant and functional for the owners.
The Mayan term Neek Kaan (nec can) means seed of heaven, referring to the sun as it falls from the sky every afternoon, embedding itself in the horizon to germinate overnight and burst into flower in the morning as a new day.
The project, located in the heart of the area known as the Flamingo Coast, has been carefully designed with special attention given to the smallest details, in order to achieve the perfect harmony between nature and man. This has meant the rescue and relocation of various plant species, including the Chi'it (Trinax radiata), a species of palm tree currently in danger of extinction.
Neek Kaan is designed to optimize space and to achieve maximum comfort both in the apartments as well as in the common areas.
The architectural design is the work of multi-award winning Yucatecan architect Javier Muñoz Menéndez, whose projects include, among many others, the Corporate Headquarters of Cemex (2005), the Senate Building (2003), the San Benito Market (2003), the PGJ Yucatán (2002), and Megamak, Guadalajara (1998).
The frame of the buildings is formed using the sun as our most important element and following a vertical distribution to best enjoy the afternoon light. The principal objective of the development is to integrate man with his environment, seeking to merge with and not eliminate the plant life. This ecological philosophy on development is reflected in the framework which includes an isotope of plant life to flourish there. The colors of the afternoon and the vegetation are reflected in the framework.
Neek Kaan is located a few steps from the beach, 2 kilometers from downtown Progreso and 1.8 kilometers from the village and port of Chicxulub. Residents of the complex will have first class services close at hand and just 5 minutes away, such as pharmacies, supermarket, restaurants, workshops, schools and medical care. Concerned about the environment, Neek Kaan has a modern water treatment system which will allow wastes to be separated from residual waters prior to contact with the subsoil.
Neek Kaan maintains its green areas with an irrigation system, strategically distributed through the areas used to preserve endemic species and those used as green areas. The complex has a hydropneumatic supply of drinking water, guaranteeing the supply with good water pressure in all apartments of Neek Kaan.
Neek Kaan also provides the following services in its common areas, among others: security service 24 hours/day; maintenance and gardening services; computer with Internet access in the offices; and barbeque area.

Sandra,
I am writing to you to inquire as to whether you had your long term rental questions answered. I am in the research stages of retiring to Mexico, and I will be renting, not buying.
I appreciate you time.
Brenda
