Mexico Caribbean Holidays

Traveling in the Mexican Caribbean is a beautiful adventure that the whole family can enjoy. There are beautiful, sandy beaches open to the public for some sun tanning, building sand castles or enjoying the ocean waves. There are also various activities to participate in, depending on the area. The Mexican Caribbean was once home to the ancient Mayan civilization, which is apparent in the regional dialect, ancient structures, food and culture. It is now home to the Mexican population, which makes it a great destination for anyone wishing to learn more about a rich and beautiful culture. Stop by on a Mexico cruise to really discover all the Mexican Caribbean area has to offer.

The top three ports of call for a Mexico cruise along the Caribbean coastline include Cozumel, Progreso and Isla Mujeres. Isla Mujeres is Spanish for "Island of Women" due to the Mayan goddess history on this island and the temple still residing there. Vacationers can enjoy the island's beautiful coastal reef which is a favorite for snorkeling and scuba diving. There is also the Cancún underwater museum created for scuba divers to enjoy. It is also home to the endangered sea turtles. Isla Mujeres is most active in the day, with plenty of shopping opportunities and a chance to sample the Mayan cuisine.

Cozumel is an island that is thought to be the favorite of the Mayan Goddess, Ix Chel. The scuba diving here in the coral reefs off the coast are thought to be one of the best spots in the world. Those who enjoy shopping will greatly enjoy the large outdoor shopping center with authentic Mexican items such as jewelry, blankets, Mexican and Mayan crafts and even liquor at inexpensive prices. There are plenty of beaches to choose from, all of which are pristine and located near restaurants, such as the Señor Frogs.

Although the shopping at Progreso is not nearly as extensive as that in Cozumel, there is still plenty of opportunities to shop for Mexican and Mayan items for a bargain price. You can find these near the ports and along the beaches. The Progreso Sightseeing Tour Bus is inexpensive and on a double-decker bus. It will show you the most popular beaches to choose from, as well as shopping venues and places of interest for visitors. You will be able to sample fresh seafood as well as authentic Mexican cuisine while in Progreso.
