The brainstorm of one of Mérida's local artists has just gotten off the ground, much to the delight of not only those who have heard about Mérida's exciting art scene and want to visit the art galleries, but also the gallery owners.

Concepción Sánchez Victoria, a local gallery owner, heard that tourists and members of the large foreign community thought a tour to Mérida's galleries would make it so much easier for people to get to see them. With that in mind, Concepción made a plan that is now up and running.

There are two tours:

Tour No. 1, Thursdays from 10 am to 1 pm. Cost 250 pesos:

* Museo de Arte Contemporáneo
* Museo de la Ciudad
* Museo de Arte Popular de Yucatán
* Galería Tataya
* Galería Soho
* Galería Café Chocolate

Tour No. 2, Fridays from 6 to 9 pm. Cost 250 pesos:

* Galería Tataya
* Galería Juan Pablo Bavio
* Fundación "Casa de la Fotografía del Sureste"
