Maya Palms Resort
Maya Palms Resort - “Where the Jungle Kisses the Sea”
The beautiful Maya Palms Resort, chosen as a “Worlds Best Diving & Resorts” by PADI’s Sport Diver Magazine, is an ecological oceanfront getaway situated on the Meso-American Barrier Reef in the core of Mexico’s Chinchorro Banks. The on-site dive shop is home to the “Mahahual Mavericks” dive team. Maya Palms’ resort buildings are modeled after actual Mayan ruins, gathering the Arch of Labna, the Great Pyramid at Uxmal, and Chichen Itza’s El Castillo to the doorstep of the Caribbean Sea, featuring an observatory overlooking jungle and sea.
Location: The Maya Palms Resort lies 10 km. south of the village of Mahahual and the Costa Maya Port. In addition to the many resort amenities, the close proximity of Mahahual village allows one to enjoy other activities such as shopping and people watching.
Accommodations: Maya Palms’ air conditioned beachfront villas are located just feet away from the lapping waters of the Caribbean with all the comforts of home. The seaside villas are screened to capture the soft caress of an ocean breeze, have ceiling fans, private bath, hot water, eco-electricity, two full size beds, daily maid service, a private porch, and pure R/O water produced by our seawater recovery plants. Guests find the tropical setting to be unspoiled and secluded, a welcome change from the crowds so often encountered at other resorts. The resort’s wireless Internet allows you to go on line any time of day or night.
Optional Meal Package: Maya Palms offers its guests the option of a meal package that includes prix fix meals offering breakfast with fruit and coffee, lunch, and a four-course gourmet dinner.
The Pyramid Reef Bar & Grill is located inside Maya Palms’ main pyramid, offering fine food, relaxation and recreation, and is world renowned for incredible gourmet meals with a Yucatan flair, featuring frozen tropical drinks and “the coldest cervezas on the coast.”
The main palapa/bar area is ideally situated so as to take advantage of four dimensions of Maya Palms: ocean views, sea breezes, gardens, and wildlife. The palapa is a place where family and friends can gather for games, dining, or just good conversation.
Freshwater Swimming Pool: Maya Palms Resort features a spacious seaside freshwater swimming pool caressed by “Temple of Columns” featuring a large tile deck, palapa bar, hammocks, and “bling-bling glamour loungers”. The pool is a haven for sun worshipping, lounging, and refreshments -- the perfect place to unwind after a day of diving or fishing.
Meso-American Barrier Reef: Located directly in front of Maya Palms Resort, the Meso-American Barrier Reef lies only 400 yards off shore. This is the largest barrier reef in the western hemisphere, stretching over 400 miles north to south, its size surpassed only by Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. Home to some of the most extensive and well-developed coral formations in the world, the amazing reef supports a wide diversity of marine life with over 500 varieties of fish.
Activities: Maya Palms Resort offers scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming, beachcombing, kayaking, fishing, bird watching, relaxing on the mile of private beach, or just lying in a hammock amid the palms and ancient sea grape trees.
Swimming and Snorkeling: Maya Palms’ extraordinary virgin reef system breaks the waves, making swimming and snorkeling enjoyable for both beginners and pros. A rich variety of colorful coral, fish, lobsters, turtles, rays, and conch inhabit the reef, providing visitors with an unforgettable show of nature’s beauty. The reef also serves to provide calm waters along the white sands of Maya Palms’ vast private beach.
Scuba Diving and Snorkeling: Maya Palms’ Chinchorro Divers is the founding pioneer for Scuba Diving in Costa Maya. Obtaining the first permit to dive the Chinchorro Banks, Maya Palms’ Chinchorro Divers are PADI, SSI, and TDI certified resort dive facilities, utilizing the incomparable experience its sister resort Bonne Terre Mine, http://www.2dive.com/btm.htm , one of the United States’ most successful and unique dive resorts.
