Grand Celebration and Inauguration of the Sacred Mayan Ceremonial Site at Chichen Itza
The Mayan Elder Healers and Priests, J'Men, members of the association KUCH KAABY'EETEL J'MEN MAAYA'OB, A.C. celebrated the sacred ritual of Ya'axcheto consecrate on the summer equinox, June 20th, 2007, their Mayan Ceremonial site at the Maya Jungle Reserve of Hacienda Chichén grounds.
In accordance with ancient sacred spiritual tradition, thirteen Mayan High Priests or J'Men gathered, under the guidance of J'Men Ildefonso Ake Cocom and J'Men Bartolome Poot, to bless the land and plant five Sacred Trees of Life, the ceiba tree, in the grounds of their new open-air ceremonial site. The ceremony started at 10 am on the first day of the Tzolkin Mayan calendar. A group of guests joined in the celebration of this mystical experience that marks the return of the Mayan spiritual traditions and expressions to the sacred site of Chichén Itzá.
The ceremony began with the sacred calls of the Conch, powerful and vibrant sounds followed by a group of melodious ancient rhythms of music and Mayan prayers and songs all spoken in pure Maya. The Mayan High Priest called upon the gods and NojYuumk'uj (God Creator); and with utmost respect the J'Men cleaned the area from negative energy and restored the natural vital energy field of the site. They proceeded to perform the New Fire blessing of the site and carefully plant the ceiba trees in a holistic ceremonial manner that included sacred mystical elements, along with five clay pots filled with blessed seeds of five different corn kernels, copal, honey, and blessed water.
At the end of the ritual, the J'Men gave thanks to the gods for accepting their gifts and requested to bless and make sacred the land in which the ceremony was performed; then, they invited the guests to join them to drink the nectar of Ba'alche, the sacred liquor of the gods that these wise elders reserved for the occasion.
Don Valerio Canche, President of the Mayan Elders association, welcomed the Aluxes and Spiritual Guides that would protect and guard this Mayan Sacred Site, and spoke of the importance of this ceremony and special day, which marked the return of the genuine Mayan Spiritual Ceremonies and the sacred Cosmo-vision of the Mayan Civilization and Mayan people to Chichén Itzá to honor and pay respect to their gods, their spiritual guides and Mother Nature.
After the ceremony, all guests were invited to a luncheon fiesta at the Hacienda Chichén Resort, where a delicious Mayan menu was served and J'Men Don Juan Poot delighted everyone with his soft-spoken Mayan lyrics and poems.
The Sacred Mayan Ceremonial Site will remain under the care and guardianship of the KUCHKAAB Y'EETEL J'MEN MAAYA'OB, A.C. Anyone interested in learning about the Mayan Ritual Calendar should contact the association via email to info@yucatanadventure.com.mx
