Emerging Artists at SoHo Galleries
In the third major exhibition since its inauguration last year, SoHo Galleries is proud to present Emerging Artists, a show spotlighting works of young up-and-coming artists. Opening night on June 12, 2009 was as exciting and dynamic as their two previous openings, which were attended by hundreds of art lovers and collectors. Following are some of the highlights of the show:
David Reed: Although self-taught, David Reed is nevertheless able to capture nuance of light and shadow far beyond the ability of most formally trained artists. Whether it is his startlingly realistic portraits of indigenous people of Latin America or his more whimsical chicken series, David's work will brighten any decor and add value to any collection.
Viviana Hinajosa and Manuel Taure Garcia: A young couple recently from Puebla, Viviana and Manuel offer a dramatic variety of styles and techniques, including etchings, serigraphs, oils and acrylics.
Cuban Collection: Fresh from a recent buying trip to Havana, SoHo Galleries is proud to feature a collection of dynamic young artists living and working in Cuba. Ranging from established artists such as Jose Fuster to rising stars such as Kadir Nieves and Frank Martinez, this collection of Cuban art will amaze you with its versatility. Once you've smoked a Cuban cigar, it's gone, but Cuban art is forever.
Also on display are the works of Resident Artist Nicholas Lavroff, and sculptures and ceramics by American artist Joseph Kurhajek, among other arts and crafts from the Yucatan and beyond. The show runs through August 31, 2009. Please click on poster above and images at right to enlarge.
