In the closing of the year celebrating its 15th anniversary, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Ateneo de Yucatán (MACAY) presents a multiple sample of national talent, uniting 67 artists from 9 Mexican states and 15 Yucatecan artists as hosts.

Under the title MACAY Hosts National Visual Art, the museum presents in the trimester October-December artists from the central states of Aguascalientes, Distrito Federal, Estado de México, Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Morelos, Puebla, Querétaro and Tlaxcala.

The exhibit is the sum of the efforts and links of friendship that MACAY has developed over its 15 years of promoting contemporary art with cultural insitutions of this country and the artistic community.

The director of the Fundación Cultural Macay A.C., Elba García Villarreal, thanked the artists and institutions who responded positively to the call for participants in the celebration of its 15th anniversary.

“For this last exhibit we received proposals from 118 artists and 501 works of art, including photography, painting, sculpture, and graphics. Together with representatives of each group, we made selections which resulted in the present exhibit, where we can enjoy the work of 82 Mexican artists, all with recognition of their work, its quality, theme, and technical skill; as well as offering a curriculum which guarantees their production, and in the majority of cases, participation in competitions, and state, national and international biennales.”

Throughout 2009, MACAY presented the southeast, northeast, and northwest regions in the trimesters January-March, April-June, and July-September, respectively; closing the year with the central region.
