By far, my favorite yucatecan dish are panuchos, and to drink, horchata. I could eat (and drink) that stuff daily and it would not bore me. Actually, when I am in Merida, almost daily I eat panuchos in Santiago. Love the stuff!

You didnt mention chimichangas!! This deep fried burrito is not actually yucatecan but is now available at the great new restaurant in Chelem called TACOMAYA once you try this or their other Norte Mexicana dishes you will forget about panuchos , salbutes or poc chuc

And what about puchero? And potaje? And sopa de lima? And ... the list of delicious Yucatecan dishes just goes on and on. You have a great website and I like your new design. Congratulations!

I'm for panuchos. Usually I have them on Saturday nights at "Noche Mexicana." Would love to know where the best ones are served (even though that information could be dangerous to my waistline!).
I'm also a big fan of fish&seafood tacos, and sopa de lima, but panuchos is at the top of my list.

I think I spelled it right. I first had Tiknxik in Playa del Carmen a couple years ago and havn't stopped thinking about it since. If you like fish and seafood it's really worth it to ask for this dish.

The correct spelling is TikinXic. The dish is prepared from a white fish such as grouper or mero, and is marinated with Achiote paste and sour oranges, then wrapped in a banana leaf and cooked in an earth oven beneath a wood fire.
Love, love, LOVE me some panuchos. For me they have a strong association with family gatherings and good times and were one of the first Yucatecan dishes I was introduced to when I moved to Merida. We had them at La Susana Internacional in Kanasin and they are still my favorite.
